About LaoTESOL

LaoTESOL is the principal body driving professional development in Laos. The series of annual LaoTESOL Conferences have been highly considered as significant events for the majority of teachers of English nationwide and regionally. Responding to the needs of the TESOL community, LaoTESOL continues its commitment to uphold this long-standing legacy and look forward to the future. The conference draws up to 300 attendees and continue to grow. It offers a forum for English language professionals to share ideas, practices, network, and gain insights from other cultures.

The upcoming LaoTESOL Conference will highlight a range of subthemes under the main theme, “ELT in the Digital Age: Empowering Teachers and Engaging Learners.” One key subtheme is Digital Literacy for Teachers, which focuses on equipping educators with the skills to effectively use digital tools such as computers, tablets, projectors, educational platforms, and mobile applications. These tools can support more effective lesson planning and delivery.

Another important subtheme is Innovative Teaching Methods with Technology. This includes exploring modern teaching approaches like flipped classrooms—where students watch instructional videos at home and complete practice activities in class—gamification, which uses game-based strategies to enhance motivation, and blended learning, which combines online and face-to-face instruction.

The subtheme Assessment and Feedback in the Digital World will examine how technology can help teachers provide timely, personalized feedback through online quizzes, digital portfolios, and automated assessment tools. In addition, Access, Equity, and Infrastructure will address the digital divide, particularly the challenges faced by rural and remote schools in terms of access to electricity, internet connectivity, and digital devices.

This conference serves as a vibrant platform for sharing innovative ideas, research findings, and best practices in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT). The conference will feature a variety of sessions, including plenary sessions, hands-on workshops, parallel presentations, panel discussions, and poster sessions, with an amazing line-up of internationally recognised speakers, providing ample opportunities for professional development and networking.

Participants can expect to engage with a diverse community of ELT professionals, explore novel teaching methodologies, and learn about the latest technological integrations in the classroom. The conference also offers a chance to experience the rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty of Laos, making it a truly unique and enriching event.

We really hope you have an incredibly fun and professionally inspirational conference, regardless of whether you are a LaoTESOL Conference regular or a first-time attendee. History of LaoTESOL

LaoTESOL stands for Lao Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. It is a national organization in Laos that supports English teachers and promotes English language learning. LaoTESOL was started in 2003 by a group of Lao teachers and education leaders. They saw that English was becoming more important in Laos for education, business, and communication with other countries.

The LaoTESOL Conference brought together teachers from around Laos to share ideas, learn new methods, and build professional connections. Since then, LaoTESOL has grown every year. The conference is now an important event for English teachers in Laos and even for some teachers from other countries in the region.
